We’ve featured so many hard-working employees in our About Us interview series. For this week, we had the opportunity to discuss Douglas Equipment, career advice, and foodservice equipment with Mandy. Professional, enthusiastic, and ever capable, she is a trusted employee within our sales department.

Here’s her story.

When you first began working at Douglas Equipment, did you imagine we would someday be #35 on FES Magazine’s Top 100 foodservice equipment and supplies dealers list?


When I first started here, I’ll be honest, I was skeptical. Only because I didn’t understand the process completely. Once things started clicking for me, I got excited at the possibilities. Still do!

What was it that convinced you we were a company worth staying with?

I knew after working here for 2 weeks that I was in it for the long haul. The job started making sense. At that point, it became interesting to me. But the thing that convinced me the most was the people here! I’ve gained a family of smart, hardworking, motivated friends that I appreciate more than anything.

How would you describe your current role at Douglas Equipment?

My current role at DEQ is Sourcing Manager. I provide ideas to increase our clientele base. I support our Inbound and Outbound staff with current customers, developing new customers, and recovering customers that may have fallen off of the radar.

Do you have any concerns for the foodservice industry at present?

I am concerned about the industry's supply and demand issues at this time. Manufacturers are struggling to keep up with orders, therefore customers are having to wait for unforeseen amounts of time for their purchases. I have hopes this will become a problem of the past real soon.

If you could switch jobs with anyone at Douglas Equipment, who would it be and why?

I LOVE what I’m doing now, but if I had to switch, I think it’d be with Adam. I only say that because I want to know the entire business from top to bottom. Adam stays busy with each department of the company, sales representatives, manufacturers, along with customers which makes him very knowledgeable about the business. I find that admirable.

When you think of us, what positive memories come to mind?

Rising to the top 100 on the FES list was a great day! Company picnics at Larry’s cabin were awesome too!

What advice would you give your customers about the industry?

I would encourage my customers to communicate with their kitchen staff regularly. Inspect your equipment often. Try your best to know when equipment may be needed and plan ahead.

Do you think we’ll make it higher on FES’s list next year?

ABSOLUTELY!! There’s no doubt in my mind that 2022 is going to be record-breaking.
