This month I had the privilege of interviewing one of our recent hires. His name is Auston and he's one of our many team members who ensures orders get processed correctly.

I know you work in sales for e-commerce, but what tasks do you complete in this role?

The majority of my job includes data entry. I receive new orders from Amazon, DEQOnline.com, and eBay. I then process them and put together a packet that is sent to the factory and our accounting department. I also help out with other various things in my department such as listings and putting orders into our order management system.

If you could change anything about the job, what would it be?

I'm not sure that there is anything I would change. I love my job and the people that I work with! Douglas Equipment is by far the best place I have worked, especially when it comes to how the company treats its employees. Managers are very understanding and I have had no issues receiving help when I need it.

Do you have a fond memory of your time with us? If so, please share!

Probably when I first started. I was very nervous throughout my first week. This was my first professional job so to speak. I honestly didn't think I would get it and be able to do the job, but everyone in my department was there to help me every step of the way and they were all very reassuring. They made me feel like family. I still ask a ton of questions to this day and no one gets annoyed with me.

Do you have a favorite restaurant? Or a go-to order that prevails across restaurants? For instance, I almost always order chicken tenders.

My favorite restaurant changes from time to time, but at the moment I would say Applebee's is my favorite. I also always go with chicken tenders when I am unsure of what to order!

If someone were to vacation in West Virginia (where Douglas Equipment is headquartered), what local restaurants would you recommend?

West Virginia has SO many great local restaurants! If you are ever in the Charleston area (where I am located), I would recommend Adelphia or Graziano's!

Do you have any fun vacation plans for the year?

I actually do not. I am working on a business degree and decided to take summer classes so that I can graduate next summer! I believe missing one vacation is worth it.

When and how did you begin working for Douglas Equipment?

I began working for Douglas last August. I had recently moved to the area and needed to find a job quickly. I noticed quite a few ads on Indeed for Douglas and one day I saw my position posted on there, and I thought it was a lot like what I did at my previous job. I applied and I think I was invited for an interview a few days later.

Have your ideas about the foodservice industry changed any since then? If so, how?

They have! I had no idea how much money is in the foodservice industry. Before I worked for Douglas, I would have never believed that people purchase foodservice equipment as much as they do!

We consider Auston family too.
